Community Night Dinner

Zoneton Lodge's annual Community Night Dinner was held on Saturday, June 16th. Family, friends, and community leaders filled the lodge hall to enjoy a large dinner, the centerpiece of which was Bro. Billy Crider's now-famous smoked pork. After dinner, everyone retired to the lodge to applaud our three scholarship recipients, and make our annual donations to Operation Santa and Hillview Parks & Recreation.

First, Zoneton Lodge presented $3,500 to the Hillview Parks & Recreation department to assist in constructing a local skate park for the city's youth, and in continuing the array of athletic and recreational programs already available. Operation Santa—a Hillview based charity that provides food, clothing, and holiday assistance to less fortunate children—also received a $500 donation. These donations were made possible through the proceeds of the 2012 Hillview City Fair. The Hillview City Fair is organized and conducted by the brothers of Zoneton Lodge's social group, the Trowel Club.

Afterwards, the Zoneton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #576 joined with the lodge to award the 2012 high school scholarships. This year, we were able to issue $1,500 in scholarship money.

  • The first recipient was Ms. Samantha Curtsinger, who graduated from North Bullitt High School in May. Samantha took AP and college courses while in high school, and will be attending St. Catharine College to study Radiology.
  • Mr. Ryan Collins was the second recipient. Ryan also graduated from North Bullitt in May. He was a lettered varsity athlete, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and will now be attending the University of Louisville to study Sports Administration or Physiology.
  • The final recipient was Mr. Brandon Scott O'Keefe, who graduated from Micah Christian School. Brandon is very active academically, and in his ministry. He will be attending Truth Baptist Bible College to study Business Administration and Theology after which he plans to serve a leadership role in ministry.

The members of Zoneton Lodge and O.E.S. wish these graduates the best in their future studies.
