9/7 - Billy Crider Memorial Blood Drive

09/03/2013 - Harlen Compton

flyerIn an effort to preserve the life of our late Brother Billy Crider, PM (Hon.), local physicians spent a large amount of donated blood. His family has asked that we do what we can to restore that blood stock so that it can be utilized to save other lives in the future.

Thus, on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, the American Red Cross will be at the Bullitt County Shrine Club (375 Sunview Drive) accepting donations of blood.

Please contribute if you are able.

"Covered" for Another 30 Years

03/22/2013 - Harlen Compton

In the past few years, our building has started to show its age. Fortunately, the members of Zoneton Lodge have stepped forward to ensure that we preserve our local landmark for future generations. Beginning with the climate control failures a few years ago, brothers from all walks of life have stepped forward to cook breakfast, fry fish, staff events, or simply donate their own funds to assist in raising the money necessary to maintain our lodge. Since that time, we have replaced air conditioners and furnaces. We have painted walls, repaired plumbing, electrical wiring, doors, installed new appliances, etc. etc. etc. We are, of course, by no means finished. We are fortunate to have our lodge hall, but maintaining it is a large and on-going responsibility.

Just last week, the roofing crew finished replacing a roof in desperate disrepair. This replacement is expected to remain solidly for at least another 30 years. I congratulate the brothers of Zoneton Lodge on yet another milestone accomplishment.

Freemasonry in 2013

01/10/2013 - Harlen Compton

Working ToolsThe end of 2012 brought the over-hyped speculation and fear-mongering of various would-be prophets predicting our demise and the "end of the world". The fallacy of that message could fill volumes, but suffice it to say, we're still here! Furthermore, in spite of difficult economic times, our fraternity is not only present, but thriving. I am extraordinarily proud of the steps that we have made at Zoneton Lodge, the bonds we have forged with one another, the things we have learned, and what we have been able to do for our community.

As we charge forward into the dawning light of 2013, let us be reminded that there is always more to be done. We should look to the coming year with higher thoughts of nobler deeds and greater accomplishments. I am excited about the future of our fraternity, and the prospect of presiding over our lodge during another fantastic year.
