Kenneth W. "Deacon" Lawson, 85, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

Mr. Lawson was a United States Army veteran who served during World War II and retired from GE in 1986 after 31 years of service.

He was the former pastor of Mt. Elmira Baptist Church and Clermont Baptist Church. Mr. Lawson was a member of the Fern Creek Lodge # 955, a charter member of the Zoneton Lodge # 964 and a Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky.


Among those who preceded him in death include, his first wife, Ruth Lawson; son, Ronnie Lawson and daughter, Janice Dishon.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Ralph Lawson (Jeanette) and Mark Lawson (Dawana); wife, Dorothy B. Lawson; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Velma Davis and Pat Brenner (Bill); and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with Pastor Preston Siler officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and on Friday from noon -8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Schoppenhorst, officiated by Brother Curtis Johnston, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Masonic Homes of Kentucky.
